A vehicle’s Fitness Certificate is a document issued by the government that certifies that a vehicle is fit to be driven on roads. Both commercial and private vehicles must have a Fitness Certificate as per the law. Every new vehicle is issued a Fitness Certificate that remains valid for a specified number of years.
Following that term, the Fitness Certificate must be renewed in order to adhere to The Motor Vehicles Act’s rules and regulations. The Regional Transport Office (RTO) conducts a thorough vehicle assessment as part of the renewal process.

The procedure of renewal of fitness certificate is very simple. On taking your vehicle, and the documents mentioned above, to the concerned RTO, it will be subject to an inspection by the Motor Vehicles Department. After the inspection, the details will be submitted on the Vahan website. After reviewing the vehicle details, and the application fee, the RTO officer will issue a renewed vehicle fitness certificate to you. Documents Required for Vehicle Fitness Certificate
To obtain the fitness certificate, the commercial vehicle owner has to submit the following properly filled documents to renew or to get a new vehicle fitness certificate for his/her vehicle:
Form CFA to seek a new Fitness Certificate
Form CFRA to seek a renewal of the certificate
Vehicle Registration Certificate
Active Insurance Policy
Legitimate Certificate of Emission/ PUC
Details of Tax paid
